There are many principles to writing good answers in mains. Will discuss things one by one
First principle is understanding the question and writing as many points as possible (within word limit) w.r.t to the question
More valid points = more marks
More points per page will carry more marks compared to less points and more page answers.
So practice to give as many dimensions to question asked instead of lengthy explanation of single point
One figure is worth 100 words in mains exam. Take for example above diagram on “manual Scavenger’s” which explains this complex issue in simple terms. Such things shows to that you have clear understanding about the subject. Keep things as simple as possible. But Simplicity is very complicated these days😉
Keep your answers simple and clear so that even dumbest examiner can understand it and cleverest examiner appreciate your choice of words and points.
Practice making figures on the spot from now onward so that it becomes dynamic in exam hall, otherwise 3 hrs time is very less to conceptualise diagrams in exam hall itself.
Sample question: How can India accommodate her foreign policy of non intervention with emerging right to intervention?
Such questions needs to be handled diplomatically. Always stick to official stand even though in reality it can be different. Aberration of our national policies are only isolated cases not norm.
Ok. Thats all for today
I was thinking of daily answer writing practice for this group (http://ariseias.com/telegram-group/). Will share 2 questions daily and you can answer anyone of them. People can review answers and share feedback. I will also review answers as and when possible.
It takes around 10 mins to write one answer. So i am hoping more people will participate.
